I have a old, probably 80's model, Vantage bass guitar. It doesn't have the model number on it, and I bought it second hand. The guitar is in great condition and has a lot of sentimental value to me. I know it looks exactly like the Vantage VS650 lead guitars, but I can't find any information on the bass models that are similar to the VS650. If anyone has any information, it would be greatly appreciated. Re: Vantage Bass Guitars Posted by TRAVIS MIDWINTER on Thu, 04/24/2003 - 23:51. I got it back together and really like the fretboard and brass nut, but otherwise it is a pretty average bass, comparable to Ibanez. I have other basses (Gibson EB-3 1970, Fender P-Bass 1971) but I prefer the warm and full sound of my Vantages. I can not help you much with the info you are requesting but I intend to hold on to mine and am always looking for more as they are the easiest to play with a very quick neck..

The original Vantage brand guitars were produced in Japan (by Matsumoku?) during the 1970s: The Avenger and Invader series had the most unusual body styles. Double cut-away VP, VS and VSH modesl were more conventional. All these models had great features with multiwood natural finish bodies fashionable in the late 1970s. The Vantage brand name reappeared on lower quality guitars produced by Music Industries (Jay Turser) in the 1990's up until 1998.
